yep its the computer checking for trailer lights so it can flash the little trailer blinky thing at you in the cab and let you know if the trailer light has blown out.
there is a patch box for it.
when I connect my Disco 3 to a trailer with L.E.D.s the indicators continuously flash, even thought the car is not running.

Check the Disco 3/4 section. The problems encountered when using LED lighting have been discussed and solutions offered. I think there are DIY solution or boxes that you can have fitted by your dealer or other service provider. These problems result from the LED's drawing lower currents and the diodes interfering with the vehicles Built In Test.
Check on the D3 forum the fix will be there,it's a magic black box
i think..

An auto electrician told me that there was a plug for it that goes into the disco plug ( for trailers) and then your trailer plugs into that. He also said that Land Rover dealers supply this plug ! not true! Seems there is another place that does make the plug as BMW and Jags have the same problem. Thanks for explaining the computer causing it ....just doing its job I suspect!
This auto electrician only connects cars to their caravans so presume he knows (?)but he said Land Rover makes this plug. Any ideas on who supplies this thing?
Kevin
the internal harness plug for the trailer lights is there on the early vehicles at least, same as a disco, but the electronics make the difference. landrover can supply you the correct lead to go from this plug to your trailer socket but that wont solve the problem
the patch box Ive explained goes between the trailer socket on the car and the plug on the trailer (or you fit it inside the vehicle)
the simplest version is just a bunch of resistors
