I've taken the plunge and ordered new OEM lifters and aftermarket cam locally. I'm told that in the last 12 months the vendors have sold more than 40 of these camshafts and only had one come back. At least I have local recourse if there's an issue.

Thanks for the comments. Ordering pistons tonight.

I ordered lifters, rocker shafts and steel rockers from Turners in the UK. They arrived in 3 days. I ordered a cam from Wades after emailing them my engine/fueling/exhaust specs and getting a recommendation. It' s painful trying to make the right decision on those parts. So far so good though.

The best decision I made though, was to order adjustable pushrods from Smith Bro's in the US. I emailed them and got no response. So I called them, and when I started being called "Sir", I was happy again. I ordered rods so that the half way point of adjustment is the same length as originals. No more compromise on preload settings.
I did have to drill the pushrods holes in the heads larger to stop the adjustable pushrods rubbing.

    Cheers

Pistons ordered along with a new core plug set and some other things to help spread the cost of the $95 shipping.

No, moving a thread takes the images along, too - and I can't see any log entry showing it being moved. There must be another reason. I'll ask Incisor to check.

I was going to ask about those images. Never got to see them because of the broken links.

I may have deleted them as they were getting old and I periodically clean up these things.

I bought a Crow cam recently and I couldn't be happier with the service or the performance

I didn't know they sold lifters so I bought them from RPI Engineering,

    Wink

Have a chat to the people at Clive Cams in Ferntree Gully. 9758 5977. Most of the problems encountered with lifters relate to the way the base is ground. BTW, there is no difference between LR branded lifters and Delphi lifters - all samesame.

I bought a Crow Hi torque 37613 cam when I did my 85 County 3.5 last year.$250 Also bought their double roller chain & sprockets. $154.
I decided to buy genuine lifters because several people told me that the Holden lifters had a different and not ideal leakdown rate. $140 from British 4WD in Hobart.
Quite happy with the result, although the cam didn't seem to do much - until the first time I towed a heavy trailer - Awesome for a 3.5.

    Cheers,
    Terry
