after changing the engine mounts (rubber was protuding from the tell tale hole underneath them, the fan hub bearing (lots of play and spinning in the housing I used loctite on the new bearing)

    i discovered this,

there was no wobble when the engine was runnig.

Certainly got your money's worth there.

Different animal, but I just bought a new HB to fit to the V8 before it goes back in.

    You're lucky you found it.
I fianlly get mine back tomorrow but the harmonic balancer delaminated and destroyed the end of the crank shaft.
It's led to a complate engine rebuild since while you're doing a bottom end, you might as well do rings etc etc etc etc........
I'll be about $6,500 poorer and have been without the car for a bloody long time.... but then, that's the mechanic I use....good, but way too slow and too many excuses
Out of interesst, you obviously replaced yours, did you have a torque wrench suitable to do up the bolt to whatever ridiculous torque is needed?
