    alternator bush proofing

was in the newsagent to day looking at magazines, a sealed four wheel drive mag had an article how to 'bush proof' your alternator. Being to cheap to buy a non landrover mag, does anyone have tips or ideas for bush proofing the alternator?
    thanks

Carry a brand new spare in the back wrapped in cloth and plastic, Murphy's Law (adendum) states that what breaks is the item you don't have replacement parts for.

Sealed alternators have been around for ever. Motorola and Niehoff come to mind.

great idea if you dont mind the thermal cut out cutting in on a good quality alternator or the insulation and diodes failing from cookery on a cheap unit.
