Mm I always use an electric spanner to remover rusted nuts and bolts ( aka angle grinder)
Once you have used the sprays you get for losening bolts and nuts and they dont work. It is all you have left.
Morning all
My name is Chris. New to this game of restoration and haven't got a clue where to start or begin with my project.
I have a Landrover 88" series II A which i got for free. Chassis and bolts are are pretty rusted, but i'm sure that can be fixed/salvaged. Are there any products anybody can suggest that will help loosen rusty bolts and nuts and remove rust ?
Any suggestion is more than welcome
Thanks
Chris

Thanks i'll keep that in mind.......have considered the angle grinder, as the u bolts that keep the tray intact, which i got off yesterday after a battle, broke when i tried to remove the nuts
Soaking with Inox for a few days is not a bad option, depending on how bad they are.
Love the term 'electric spanner'!
If you are doing a decent resto, then you are better off with new nuts and bolts to put everything back together - As Reads90 said - cut 'em off and get new ones - you will save heaps of time in the long run.
You should start a thread in the 'Projects and Tutorials' forum on the resto so we can all have a look. That way if you get stuck on a particular issue, you can show us all what it is and I'm sure you will get the answers you need to keep things moving.
All the best with it - hope you get it on the road soon.![]()
If you need to contact me please email homestarrunnerau@gmail.com - thanks - Gav.
inox is defiantly the goods, it actually works, if it doesnt move them the next step up is the grinder or gas axe (oxy)
a small hint in ANY resto, and a friend fell into this not long back is
to restore the engine and brakes last!!!! these components do not like laying around to be used if you leave them too long, or do them first (like my friend) you find you have to do them over AGAIN so a waste of time and money![]()
I remembered reading this one not long ago, it may be of a help
