TD5 Def Steering Travel
I have 110 & 130 both 2002 TD5's. The 110 had a steering travel on it and then recently with new tyres the travel feels like almost a qtr wheel turn and is quite dangerous. There are no signs of leaks or foreign contaminants in the fluid reservoir. There are no steering wobbles. The suspension is only 12 months old. The steering dampener is only 12 months old. The wheels are well balanced, wheel alignment done. No vibrations. Just purely a large amount of travel on the steering wheel.
Can I please get some advice on what to do? I am hoping that it may be just an adjustment required...
Regards
Graeme

Check for wear in the drop arm ball joint, it sounds like that might need replacing.
If that's all OK, you can adjust the steering box itself but TBH it is usually the ball joint.
