Thanks Manchild!
Interesting that my '96 Disco has an airflow meter that looks like their '94 model but maybe the US market was different ;)

New maf arrived ,installed .Run perfect for half an hour and back to where it was:eek:.Engine is running hotter than before too ,so much so that the gas thingy on the front was too hot to touch .Is the engine running lean ? Thats my best guess ,if so whats the max voltage i can adjust the maf ? It came with 2.56v preset. The voltage i set it to is 1.35v as recommended by a member and tried by many with succes .
Before you make assumptions about lean/rich mixtures, you should check the actual mixtures. A simple thing is to install an O2 sensor into the exhaust and read it with a digital volt meter. You can then tell if the mixture is either side of spot on, and adjust accordingly. Jaycar do a little LED kit for reading the sensor too. A 3 wire heated sensor off a Falcon does well for this, 12V and earth to the heater wires, and a 0-1 volt (lean-rich) output for the reader.
Edit: also, have you checked the temp sender for the ECU yet? It's critical to fuelling, it lives behind the thermostat housing, has a 2 wire plug that looks like an injector plug, and should read around 300 ohms when hot. Open circuit means VERY rich when warm.
Thanks Bee Utey , i believe i got the oxygen sensors factory fitted.I set it back to the preset 2.56v, its no longer have a stinging petrol smell at the exhaust .What voltage the oxygen sensor should read ?
The distributor vacuum advance diaphragm on the D1 V8 is a common issue which results in high fuel consumption. worth getting checked out. My old man had a D1 V8 that drank petrol. Consumption improved by 4-5mpg after the distributor was repaired.
-375 ohm , thats the only reading i can get no matter which way i swap the anodes. Thanks mate ,the vacuum advance is working .

Getting a little closer to the problem .....
The tutorial that your reading is mainly for early 14cux / non oxy sensor systems ....
...... Over-fuelling can kill Oxy sensors .... They may need cleaning / replacing...Check if they are working (you have 1 sensor from memory)

Thanks mike ,so its working .What are the settings for the "normal maf and pot?
