If the linkages are free and moving then i guess its something like a roll pin on the selector fork has sheared ?
Hi all, I hope someone can help with some advice.
I am unable to select High/Low range on my 1996 D1. This happened on my last AULRO outing. The little lever moves back and forth with no resistance. The center diff lock still works ok.
I have removed the center console and looked at the top of the transfer box and can see the linkages moving all the way down to the H/L cross shaft lever, so it looks like it's something inside the box has gone.
If I remove the H/L cross shaft housing is there something under there that usually come adrift. Looking at the LT230t overhaul manual it looks like the H/L cross shaft and lever (4) goes into the H/L selector finger (19). Is this a place that can come loose. Any further on than this it looks like the box will have to come out and be pulled down.
Has anyone had this happen and is it an easy fix. I hope it can be done in the car as I this it's beyond me to pull the box.
I hope this makes sense. Any advice appreciated.
Cheers, David.

Thanks.
I just had a bit more of a look at the manual. Would you be referring to the Setscrew that secures the selector finger to the cross shaft. It looks like a grub screw. This would be my guess as it's the next thing in the link. This should come out with the housing I hope. Looks like if it's further on than this the box will have to come out.
Cheers, David.

Bad news, well for me anyway.
I removed the cross shaft housing and found the problem is further along. I can slide and rotate the selector shaft without any resistance. It looks like it will be the set scew that holds the selector shaft to the selector fork. Is there a way to get access to this screw with the box in the car or does it have to come out.
Has anyone had this problem and how did you resolve it.
Cheers, David.
