    RRC Carb and Dizzy Question

    Hi All

I have changed over from a Holley to the orignal SU's.

But a question i cant seen to find out .

The pipe on the back of the Vacum unit on the dizzy , it goes to the upright metal thing but where does the pipe go from there i think it goes around the back of the carbs but to where i dont know.

    Cheers

On mine, pipe goes from dizzy to passenger side carby. (port near bottom of carby, pointing up towards air cleaner box, pointing in between carbys.)

    That is all.

Then a tube from the top of each carby, down the passenger side shock turret.

The only "metal upright thing" I can think of is the vac takeoff at the back, that feeds the CDL. (and my vac gauge)

That's a fuel trap for the distributor retard sytem. Throw it away. It's the opposite of ignition advance and was introduced for emissions in the 80s. In that case, you must have a distributor vacuum unit with two pipes on it, one facing the dizzy and one facing away?

If so, run your vacuum hose straight from the pipe on the vacuum unit that faces away from the dizzy, to the carbie. It should then attach to the base of the LH carburettor, as shown here, next to the "22". (The 22 is pointing to something else, by the way.)

It would have gone to the fuel trap and then I think something else and then to yet another port on the original carbies. I'm pretty sure the SUs wouldn't have that extra port.
