Hi I was wondering if any one might know of the best chip available to get more power out of my 2.4 Puma motor in my 110 defender

    That's an easy one......

    BAS (Bell Auto Services) Re-Map.

Pete Bell is the master of all things LandRover. Customer Service is tops. Flick him an email and you get fast reply. Check out his web page.

    http://bellautoservices.co.uk/bas-remap-interface/

Pete does custom remap right up to Hi-Brid turbo's. I have had mine for 2 years and could not be happier.

When you purchase your remap, you will get a re-mapping tool. With this device you download you stock map from the vehicle, then download to your PC and email it to BAS.

Based on your individual requirements, vehicle information etc you will receive a custom map. Reverse the process and your done.

    Cheers.

    Hi Drover.

Out of interest have you experienced any black smoke since getting the remap?
Has the economy changed one way or another?

My concern for the UK remaps is that ive been told they are programmed for UK conditions, not Australia's. Anyone know if theres anything in that?

I got a lot of black smoke from mine and I found that it was down on turbo boost so I haven't used it much. Pete from Bell Auto was fantastic in trying to get it right but in the end I found the standard tune was better suited to my driving.

Now I am about to put an allisport intercooler in and thats where I believe they come into their own. I believe Drover is already running the larger intercooler.

Good reports from a number of people using them and after talking to Andrew he has put a lot of time and effort into development of his products and sounds like a passionate land rover guy not just in it to make a buck.

Pete and Andrew work very closely together on their development work.

Andrew from Ali-Sport puts lots of time and effort into his product and his customer and after sales service is second to none. If you read the threads on Defender2 you will not find a bad word about Andrew or Pete. (Ali-Sport and BAS)

I have got a couple of maps from Pete. The latest produces very strong power from 1600rpm's through to 3250rpm's.

You need to watch that you don’t labour the engine or black smoke is produced. Fuel economy is about the same as standard with this map.

My other map is more of performance based version. It really gets up and goes. Power comes on from 2500rpm's through to 4000rpm's. Fuel economy is a little better than standard. I don't really use this map but I don't remember any black smoke.

A upgraded intercooler and De-Cat pipe makes heaps of difference even without a remap. Knowing what I know now I would start with these mods first.

I emailed Pete today to enquire about a stock map with EGR closed and speed limiter removed, I will post the results. I think this would be the best for just driving touring. I would use my new map for towing every time, it is soooo good.

Got the map back from Pete last night.

Standard settings with EGR closed and Speed limiter removed.

Hopefully can upload it onto the ECU tonight and have quick test drive, I think this will be a good compromise for day to day driving.
