    Question Auto Problems

Hi guys, I have put my self into a position that i cant get out of. Can someone please help me with a auto gearbox problem. I removed the engine from my 94 disco, had no gearbox problems prior to removing the motor. I now have the motor in running perfictly but the auto will not select any gears. Can someone suggest where i start looking to fix this issue, I know the box is good as it was running fine before the motor rebuild.

did you disturb the TC at all?

if so the pump splines arent engaged on the TC or the pump seal is stuffed would be my first bet.

    If not

The selector cable has been damaged.

But thats with no further info.

And a really obvious one - has it got enough oil in it.
Did you do a trans service on it a the same time? Forget to put the 'O' ring on the filter pickup?

When you refitted the engine, did it mate up perfectly with the bell housing or did you pull it together the last few mm with the bellhousing bolts. If you pulled it together then see Blknight's answer....

..Or has the transfer case lever been disturbed into neutral? Don't scoff, I have received a few phone calls over the years about this, and even someone who towed their vehicle all the way in to me to see what the problem was
