Brake Caliper Rebuild
Has anyone replaced the seals and pistons in a defender brake caliper. Looks like a pain to do without separating the caliper. I know Land Rover say don't separate the two halves of the caliper- not sure why. I was going to fit stainless pistons and new seals. The current pistons look a bit corroded. I do a lot of beach driving.

No need to seperate the caliper halves, seals are hard to come by anyway. Just use a wooden hammer handle or similar between the two sets of pistons and gently blow them out a little toward each other with compressed air. Seeing that you are replacing the pistons, just grab them with multigrips and wiggle each one out and file them in the appropriate receptacle. (Bin)

I just recently did mine(county),I had to seperate the calipers to fit spacers for vented discs that made the job a lot easier, the spacer kit came with new seals
Be careful of cheap piston seal kits,I saw one kit that 2 seals would have been unusable and the quality of the rest was poor.

The part number for the seals if your seperating the calipers should be 17H8764L
