Thread: isuzu mu 2.8 engine and box into defender

I know search is my friend but my internet is playing up. I have the chance to get a isuzu mu 2.8td with auto complete. Will the lot fit into the defender ute, or is it to much trouble. Also has anyone fitted just then engine up to the standard box. Mine is a 1997 300 tdi defender ute. Fors and against please.

Like most jap stuff, the bighorn/mu gearboxes are centred rear drive-shaft. Someone in the UK makes adapters from that engine to the LR gearboxes though. Isuzurover did a lot of research on it.
