Anyone know of engineered vehicles running one-link+panhard?

Well U404s and other mogs from the same era have that setup from the factory. So it would have to be engineerable if done properly.

After my recent incident, I'm questioning the validity of at least HD stuff for all the steering links/rods. Reason being I was hit straight in the left front wheel, bent the panhard pretty good, slight kink in the track rod and the drag link was fine. All standard gear, but the steering box drop arm was bent (quite a feat) and the sector shaft twisted, total about 30deg out.

I'm wondering about keeping one of the links standard to keep a weak link in the system. probably the drag link as it's the shortest to carry a spare (still have post accident) and it's the most out of the way and protected when off road. Also if damaged (bent & effectively shortened) it will only effect turning as shortening will reduce RH lock and extend LH.

Since I'm just about to replace radius arms, and all links what are peoples opinions?

I guess it depends on your own priorities. I bounce ideas of people with alot more experience than myself...I would say that using your vehicle off road would result in much more chance of steering link failure than the chance of a road accident causing sector shaft failure....

just do what you want to do as long as its safe.

why are you replacing the RA's?

Castor correction, since ins paid for a new one, retail $1836- and a set of arms & links comes in at far less. I wasn't unhappy with the steering as is, much sharoper and more what I like but another inch is going under it (to 3) so makes it worthwhile. Taking out 3deg will still have it 1 more than is should be so steering should be very nice.
