May be a slight variance between a 200Tdi Defender and a Discovery?
About to start the head swap I compared my old CH to the replacement and noted different casting numbers.
The replacement is HRC 2123
The original is HRC 2281
What is interesting is the difference in casting. The HRC 2123 has a set of much smaller coolant passages, on the HRC 2281 they look to be around 4 times bigger.
I asked turners and they say it makes no difference as the larger passages would be restricted by the head gasket.
It seems odd that LR would revise the head in this way when it does not make any difference. Found absolutley 0 info on this online so wondering if anyone knows more about this?

anyone with a defender 200tdi post a HRC casting number?
Perhaps the gasket holds some clues. I was given an Elring 916.417 - are there other elring options for the 200tdi depending on casting/make/year?
Heres the pic showing that if this gasket was used on HRC 2281, the passageways would be restricted to the pin like holes.
