Clunky Rattlely Gear Changes
Am I the only one with this ????? The dealership in Canberra reckon is pretty normal, but I dont accept everything they tell me.
Puma 2011 55k on the clock - when ever I go anywhere, changing gear is always a rattley, actually more a clunky experience.
It aint the gearbox. I'm no mechanic, but I feel its somthing around the gearbox???
I have a 25min drive to work. Sometimes I try to drive the whole way without a clunky gear change. If I try hard I can get 50% of changes without a clunk.
Ive never driven another Puma, but feel I need to test drive one to compare.
It is more pronuced when changing gear below 2000rpm.

I don't know what specs your gear oil has to comply with, but I do know that some of modern syntrans type oils help gear changes in older gearboxes feel like putting a knife through soft butter

Our td5 Disco has a similar problem, it needs a clutch pretty soon, dad thinks the clunk is drag on the clutch and the syncho can't keep up, only happens if you change gears quickly though
