Much better ? Easier on fuel doing it - and last as long as the V8?
I assume that you are asking about the 2.6 Diesel? In which case there are others that are excellently qualified to answer.

I haven't yet been able to reconcile myself to changing the beat of a smooth V8 for the clatter of a diesel. I'm told that the new generation of diesels are simply awesome, that they pull as well as a V8 and sip sparingly of fuel.

Perhaps someone can answer that for us?

A relatives RRS with the 600Nm/180kW V6 diesel is averaging 8.4 litres/100km according to the trip computer.

My stock 300tdi Disco has done 7.6L on a trip to the Flinders a few years ago. Wonder what the trip computer would have said(if it had one)?? 5L,6L or 4L????
This figure didn't take into account the speedo error of about 4-5% with the stock 235/70 tyres!!!!!!
I'd be happy with 8-9L if the tdi had a little more power..

    Cheers
