    I reckon it's a case of "modern Genuine Parts strike again". There is such rubbish out there these days.

    Bad quality would have been my guess, given the way those things were disintegrating.

    If anyone wants to go halves in a set of Crane Lash Caps they are cheaper to buy here in Australia, $56 USD for caps and cheapest freight $36 USD, in USA, Crane suppliers in Australia are $85 + delivery, about $2, contact me if you need a set and don't want to buy 16, regards Frank.
