    cleaning intake manifold on Td5

has anyone done this and did you manage to get all the carbon out? If so, how? I got a LR dealer to do this while they were doing other things on the car, but when I checked it, it's still got a thick layer of carbon in it...all they've managed to do is soften it up a bit...

If you've gone to the trouble of removing the EGR then yes...absolutely worth doing it as well as cleaning the intercooler. It's a painfull job removing then replacing the manifold but consider this........you'll only have to do it once!

That's how I had mine done. I had it done while the head was being given the once over (I removed the EGR system while the head was off). The guy doing the job had to soak it several times to get it all out it was so thick. Definitely worth paying someone else to do!

cleaned mine out when i removed the egr.

removed the manifold all together and cleaned it in a parts cleaner.
then gave it a blast out with a high pressure cleaner.

was a pain in the arse that's for sure...

but yeah wont have to do it again
