    Hi JGARDE !

    ....it has no mods.....
...this means , that you havn´t changed any hardware on your car - Intercooler, EGR, Exhaust ? ?

If I´m right - your new map is overfuelling at certain revs : Diesel that is useless injected , because lack of air to burn it !

First thing is to bring more air into the combustion chamber -> larger intercooler is highly recommended .
Other little mods to let the engine breath more free : high flow airfilter , get rid of the EGR-Valve and airflow restrictions before the filterbox , last not least a replace the CAT with a 2,5" tube.

Your prob appears if you use a fuelling map that doesn´t match to your present Engine Hardware setting.

It would be interesting to analyze your map with the Td5MapSuite - do you use a NC III to flash the ECU ?

    Ciao Hannes

Take it back and tell them to provide a better map or get your original map returned along with your money and take it to someone with more options.

I have had maps from a number of sources and I find Gary Wood at Alive Tuning to be very responsive.
I went to him with complaint about the map I had he wrote me another map and then modified it as I asked him to.
Excellent service and his skills with mapping are some of the best.

Is yours a post-02 (ish) with a flashable ECU or an earlier model (like mine!) which needs to be opened and physically altered? Its much easier to change the mapping on a later flahsable model.

I would say the fuelling is too rich, hence the black smoke, which is common from a 'standard' chipping (by standard I mean cheap and nasty).

First thing would be to call the mob that installed it and ask them to fix it. It should not be putting out excess smoke. A bit more is understandable but heaps is crap. If they say "they all do it" get your money back and go with one of the other more reputable chippers as mentioned by djam1.
