Why have you fitted the RTC damper? With a correctly maintained front end there is no need for one.
The sort of symptoms you are describing are often caused by loose swivel preloads.
Hello out there. Just added a RTC steering damper. (Tought Dog) Problem is that sometimes around 85 to 95 k/h the landie just about shakes apart. Had no steering problems with the replaced steering damper. Anyone out there with advice. I was told by manufacturer that any wear in the steering will be magnified by the RTC damper. Cheers Tiger

Yeah, not sure why you want an RTC steering dampner, that would be bad offroad i would think, i always thought they were for high speed rigs like desert buggies etc. f it caused the problem get rid of it (i would anyway) and replace your bushes that's what would be loose unless the steering box is flogged out.
The thing is either no good or possibly the mounting bracket on the diff housing is loose. Had the same problem after a trip into the high country. Turned out to be loose bolts.
Swivel preload. Mine was out and I had one guy do it , then it came back with a vengeance, fixed now.
Panhard bushes/tighten up
I had an OLD MAN EMU damper in for ages , served me well , went to a BIL STEIN and never looked back 100% better than the OME.
I have been told by so many suspension shops that TUFF DOG/4WAY anything are rubbish.
They have always said KONI or BILSTEIN
With an RTC you have to set it up correctly, you cant just fit it and expect it to work. It needs to be centered perfectly or you will get the shakes as you have described - they work well when setup properly.

Hi, Yes thems is the swivel preload shakes!!! Go at least 2lb tighter than it says in the manual when you do them but. As for the RTC shockie, I have run 1 for 2yrs on the defender due to the roads out this way, and the odd log and stump in the grass!!and as the previous poster said they have to be dead centered or you will wander all over the shop and shake! Cheers
