    Re-wiring batteries in Puma

    Hello,

Can anyone please tell me whether or not the 500A fuse that came with the +ve terminal connection on my Puma is actually necessary?

The reason I ask is that I've had to do some rejigging of my wiring for the two batteries, and I now need to use a different battery as my cranker. The terminal on this battery is further from the edge meaning that I can't use the original connection.

In order to retain the fuse I've thought of making up a new short lead from the post to an eye. I'd then connect the DBS etc from that eye and place the fuse there too, and then connect the starter motor's lead to the other end. I'm guessing that if I did this I'd need some pretty solid insulation on all of these connections as they'd be hanging loose. Are there any other issues with this arrangements that you guys can see?

An auto electrician told me yesterday that I need not worry about putting the fuse back in as virtually no cars have them fitted anyway. I took that with a grain of salt as I figured there must be a reason for it being there in the first place. An I being too cautious? Or am I giving Solihull too much credit?

    Cheers,

    James

Can you not use an inline holder for the "Mega Fuse"?

I'd talk to Drivesafe on the forum for a bit of advice, or:

In line MEGA fuse holder (100 - 500 Amp rating) FH567 | eBay

    Cheers,

    Tim
