yep, but then I'd rather have it limp me to the next town on reduced power than blow a hole in the piston and go nowhere.

I'm not completely up with the latest iterations of the transit engine the earlier ones had similar problems as the nissan hand grenade, if the EGR was letting more in than the computer had accounted for then would up the fueling to get the power output up to the demanded level.

Not sure about any of that,

One of my maps is standard + EGR closed + speed limiter removed.(no EGR noise)

This is the map I use 95% of the time.

EGR closed makes it go heaps better and improves fuel economy.

Oh and no engine light or limp mode has ever activated.

Thanks guys...I was dreading the day it started having these issues but this is expected from new cars

i agree blknight if it ups the fueling that's to sketchy for my liking...is interesting about the ecu upgrades stopping this...I am impressed with alive tuning remap that a mate of mine showed me unfortunately I do not want to waste money on a puma when I have a Isuzu county in need of some...
It often makes me wonder why they have these stupid egr's when all they ever do is cause problems and add to pollution in the long run by having scrap engines everywhere due to failures...

If you get stuck needing one I have a geniune new spare with gaskets. Personally, I'd put the money towards a BAS remap.

To appease short sighted yuppies whose sole aim in life is to upgrade to the newest and bestest thing available with new go faster do it all for me bells, whistles and blinky lights before the warranty runs out on the old one so it can be scrapped, hopefully recycled without causing too much harm to the environment and turned into even more newer and betterer stuff for them to buy.

Thanks heaps TimZ I'll be taking it to dealers on monday to get the car repaired...so which tune is better BAS or alive ?(couldn't care less about fuel consumption I just chase power

) I am the same as you I would prefer to disable it all together as it's a waste of time!!!
I disconnected the plug to egr took it for a drive it stopped all noises so it ruled out any clutch problems to which was good...after 10mins the engine light came on so I reconnected the plug...

the EGR on yours how many wires is in the plug? and does it appear to have a seperate position sensor to the main motor?

Which is better...how long is bit of string.

I'm sure that those with BAS will vote BAS and those with Alive will vote.....

I have BAS and I have had an excelant response from Pete Bell and have had a couple of custom maps made to cater to my personal preferences.

BAS seem to have greater room for expansion, particulary when you consider the new Hy-Brid turbo for the PUMA.

My vote is for BAS

It must be hard for you to get up every day and go through life seeing all these new yuppie vehicles driving around,if only the owners would see that motoring excellence peaked with the carby fed series 2a,or a twenty year old county,poor souls. Pat

Dave, I've just had a look at my spare and it's got a 5 pin plug, the position feedback is seperate to the electric motor, but from what I've seen/read it is a very basic circuit.

Here's a picture of the connections under the cover, (which houses the pulg connector), the electric motor connectors are on the left:

Hi c.h.i.e.f, the light should go off in 3 driving cycles.

Edit: Hopefully Lorryman100 will see this as he is clued up on the TDCi Defender control systems.
