    D1 starter & mud !!!

Im usually avoid black sticky mudholes but i had no choice on the weekend . After that a car didnt start sometimes , spraying some degreaser on it started on the track , but its a touch and go . Today after sitting for a full day it wouldnt start no matter how much contact spray i used . After tapping it though it starts every time . My question is
    A-just leave it
B-pull it out and clean it
    C- replace it
Is the tap only fixed it temporarly ?
Before this i didnt had any trouble at all . Eartstrap is good , relay clicking i might add .

If you can't fix it with a hammer , you got an electrical problem .......
