    TD5 2000 fuel filter

Hi guys, new user here looking for some help. My truck starts chugging and gets real lumpy after about 10 minutes driving. Sounds to me like it is a fuel issue. When I stop and restart the engine it goes away for another 10 minutes or so. When I put my hand on the fuel filter it is really hot, to hot to hold. This does not seem right to me? Chris.

    Hi Chris. Welcome!

That is normal .... try touching the fuel tank after you've checked the fuel filter temperature

The unused diesel is passed from the fuel gallery in the head, back to the tank, in a closed loop recirculation system (for cooling).

    Nothing to worry about.

Thanks Kev. That rules that out. Back to the drawing board I guess.

    In this order...

Check for Oil at ECU plug - You most likely have "Oil in harness" issue.

    Check FPR is not leaking

Check FPR is getting right pressure

Fuel Pump is going / failing

Release the fuel cap. Maybe a vacuum lock in the tank causing starvation perhaps. Otherwise i would suspect the FPR.
