    d2 td5 viscous fan

    hi all,
    appreciate confirmation of my symptoms.
the viscous fan has started to cut in at intermittant intervals and i am thinking it might need replacing. i have been getting the roar at low speeds and it was not happing before, coolant and hoses seem all ok. from cold i cannot rotate fan by hand or when the engine is warm, the fan is spinning when the motor runs.
do you think after 276,000km i should replace it.
also i assume you cannot replace just the viscous unit on the disco?, or can you as seems most for disco sell fan and viscous unit together?.
    cheers

I've purchased one as a separate unit, though was for a V8.

    your time will come...

still no confirmed answer as to when i should know if the viscous unit is cactus, rather not stick my hand in to hold the blades to test.
