Love the look of the alloys, but I run Disco steels on mine on trips mainly for ease of tyre changing. And the alloys weigh near enough the same as the steels.
Hi,
One point missed so far is width.
Std steel are 5.5 inch
HD steel are 6.5 inch
Alloys are 7 inch.
You can't legally fit a 235/85R16 on a 5.5 inch rim.
You can't legally run a 265/75R 16 on a 6.5 inch rim.
Have a think about what size tyres you are going to run.
Tony

I've got a 110 with steel Sunraysias. They're okay, but I'm tempted to go to Disco 1 steel - I know they're not rated as high as the 110, but the Disco was heavier out of the factory, and was rated for the same towing, plus many people seem to use them okay. - Correct me if I'm wrong, so I don't go down that path.
I'd really like some alloys to reduce the unsprung weight of the vehicle, but very few alloys allow you to pull the axle out while the vehicle sits on it's wheels. Zu rims, and a few others do, but the standard Land Rover alloys don't. Should I ever need to pull an axle out on the side of a track, I don't want to have to start removing wheels as well.
While alloys scratch easily, they don't bend like steel rims do, so if I could afford the alloys I wanted, I'd go for alloys. And as already noted, they produce less shrapnel if I hit a land mine.

Alloys are 7 inch.Hi Guys, are these 3 Land Rover Rims all Tubeless Tyre Rims or the Steels are for Tubed Tyres

you can get both tubed and tubeless on the steels, not sure about the alloys, never run them.
Those Blindo alloys are all the rage in the UK. I have the HD steels on my 90. Those are rated to 2200kg. Most of the alloys are around 1600kg with the freestyles, iirc, around 1200-1300kg?
Disco steels have a good rating also.
HD Steels with 255/85s weigh a ton and not much fun hoiking onto the spare wheel carrier.

Thanks for the replies guys.
Ok so it is legal to use Tubeless Tyres without Tubes on the Steels, therefore no Insurance issues?you can get both tubed and tubeless on the steels, not sure about the alloys, never run them.

Same Question as above Disco1 Rims ok to legally use tubeless Tyres w/out Tubes or cause insurance issues?Disco steels have a good rating also.
Can they be used on a Defender w/out issues or is the KG rating under what's legally allowed for use on them.
Hmm that could put stress on the rear components.HD Steels with 255/85s weigh a ton and not much fun hoiking onto the spare wheel carrier.G
The Boost Alloys are +33mm
Anyone know what the STD Steels, the HD's & the Disco1's are. Thanks again.
