Do a search on Alarm Spider bypass. I think this bypasses the engine immobilizer. When I pulled my car arpart I found a bypass plug in it, it's in the shed somewhere.

		Hi all , Seeking advice on what to do for the old famous security feature based shutdown problem for a 97 disco.Heres where we are up to - security system cuts off feed to ignition coil -disable feature , when this happens : no amount of alarm system resetting works.All the standard items of other areas have been cleared.My problem : specifically I cant get a wiring schematic showing the alarm system components , and how the coil supply intergrates.I know that theres 2 black boxes involved, door switches for the central locking module , the alarm system itself , key and transponder etc.I just dont want to take the whole thing apart to map out all the wiring ?.I know this has happened before and others have got it sorted out.For me , I just dont view it as an option : committing over 1k in cash to paying out for a new black box system as per rovers pricing.We have fitted a temporary kill switch setup that supplies the coil and beats the stupid thing , but ultimately I need to isolate and replace the at fault parts.Can anyone assist with thoughts , past experience , or suggestions on where to get a full wiring schematic.

From memory when I remade the loom from the Disco to go in my Rangie, there were 2 or 3 circuits running through that spider. I bypassed all of them. They are all in black wiring so they are deliberately hard to identify. It was easy enough with the whole loom sitting on the kitchen table, but it would be a bit harder to do in the car. I think the fuel pump, starter and injector supply were run through the spider, but I may be wrong. I will have the loom back out of the Rangie tomorrow to finish tidying it up - I can have a look then if you want.
The plug should still be kicking about in your garage Landover, as it wasn't on the loom I bought home.
Beejay - if you can find the connector where this runs to the alarm system, then you should be able to just disconnect it, and plug the spider bypass in if you can lay your hands on one. It is a plug as Landover described with a plug that has 3 bits of wire looped in it to bypass the alarm module.

Thanks Landover and bacicat2000 , I have already confirmed that the spider bypass plug is fitted in the loom.( Had to do that years ago , when the first starter motor failed...) But you raise a good point , I have read on the american forums of the pins getting corrosion / heat effected and giving poor contact.( Wont I look like a right chump if you guys are on the hammer , and the darn thing has just come loose ...Job for next weekend).Hee Hee - its good to have SOME possible solutions.
