If your going to load this beast up and risk weight on one wheel locked, I'd go D60 35 spline conversions from Keith. I would personally run an ARB with this but thats just me.
Hi guys, just bought myself a civilian perentie 6x6 with plans to turn it into a capable/comfortable overland camper.
I know the articulation isn’t the greatest with the twin leaves and load sharing system, is it worth installing lockers to compensate for this and if so which kind to which diff? I know there are a lot of threads about LSD vs full locker, Detroit vs ARB etc but figured this was a unique enough situation to warrant its own thread!
I plan to take the truck through the Americas then down through Africa with the intention of getting off the beaten track wherever safe to do so. If i get them I am leaning toward a ‘fit and forget’ type rather than an ARB (which i have nothing against, my V8 90 has f&r ARBs, maxidrive axles, pegged r&ps and 35s but the intended use of that truck is obviously very different to the 6x6).
For those who don’t know, the truck is 4x6 with selectable 6x6, the front diff is rover and the rear 2 are HD Salisbury.

Due to the extra axles helping to bear any extra weight and spreading the extra load,I don't think their is any need to go to 35 spline axles,but I would definately fit H/D aftermarket axles,and I would probably suggest Detroits in both rear axles.There are plenty of large trucks running Detroits in the rear bogies,so I see no problems.And they are fit and forget![]()

I'm pretty sure the SASR LRPV's have/are run locked in the rear, but I've heard different stories on what they are using.
Maybe someone in the ADF may know and be able to PM you if it can't be broadcast 'publicly' ?
(I'm wondering if this post will flag anything in Russell Offices ?)

Apparently you haven't sat next to a concrete agitator or tipper with power-divided bogey and listened to the racket while the Detroits unlock and re-lock.
However given this one is 6X4 selectable 6X6 the problem of the power-divider fighting the detroits shouldn't be a problem.
There would be an argument to put a bias diff like a Tru-track in the front first as its most likely to remain on the ground. Of the rear ones the second axle can lift off the ground on steep aproach angles and the third axle likely to lift on acute ramp over angles.
The third axle is the lazy one, but is likely the last one to have traction so may be the one to get you out backwards on the flat

Here is ours. Was Perentie but I made it cab over.
Cast Rover diff in front and Borg Warner in the rear. ( Look a bit like Salisburys)
Diff locks are factory and use the same actuator as the CDL.
