    Diff locks ?

    Hi guys I was just wondering if someone
    could point me in the right area for a cheap
    but worthwhile difflock for the rear of my
    96 v8 disco
    Any advise would be great

    My only Concern is cost
    Like most I don't have a lot of cash to put into her
    (if only I could) I do all my own work to cut costs as much as I can

    diff locks

    hi there

    i would keep an eye out on ebay as 2nd hand lockers come up quite often. i picked front and rear arb lockers for 1200 bucks and that was with compressor and switches and both installed in centres so all i had to do was bolt em in

    You can land an Ashcroft locker on your doorstep for $860. Better design than the ARB - they won't end up leaking air like the ARB ones will. If your after budget, then there are some Chinese copies of early ARB lockers that are cheap, and there are plenty out there that say they are ok.

    My ARB ('s) only leaked air because the diff breather was blocked, actually didn't leak air but diff oil was forced back up air line to solenoid.
    Manual locking diffs IMO are better than LSD, the fact that a LSD works only after you have lost traction on one or more wheels and Detroit lockers unlock on turning, I can see no advantages of a Detroit locker or LSD over a manual locking diff, Regards Frank.

    Tank, were you referring the LSD comments in regards to the Ashcroft locker being advised? As Ashcroft also make an airlocker, which I believe he was referring to.
