    Defender Seats 6&7 to 3&5

Anyone out there done a conversion of Defender (09MY) seats 6 and 7 to to replace the three second row seats to free up the centre behind the cubby; and then be able have each fold up against the doors (or fold forward)? The double second row seat is a pain.

Have ideas, (and machine shop) but prefer not to re-invent the wheel.

    Cheers

Nope, never heard of anyone doing that. It might help if you also mention what/why you're thinking of swapping things around as there might be some other options available which you'd not thought of.

Depending on what you're thinking of, here are a couple of other options:

1 - Exmoor Trim do a set of 3x individual 2nd row seats. You could pull out the middle seat completely or just do what I've done; Remove the seat and left the frame. I've mounted the fridge on the frame and the water tank in the footwell in front of the middle seat.

You could even make the entire assy 'quick release' by replacing the hinge bolts, in the tilting bracket, with a split-pin type arrangement.

2 - A more common conversion for the 2nd row, is to weld up a frame to take a pair of front row seats and sliding mechanism. Again, this frees up the middle for things like fridges.

Thanks for that, still having lots of "thoughties" before starting to hack around. "measure lots - cut once"
