    Transfer reduction gears

Seeking wisdom for my P38 4.6, i have fitted 265/75/16 mud tires some time ago and have noticed i can't hold overdrive when loaded and under 110kph was wondering what to do. Do i change the tires for touring as they are muddies, purchase 4.1 to 1 ratio differential crown wheel and pinions or is there a set of reduction gears i can install in transfer case to reduce final drive ratios. I did notice with the muddies now installed i do not have the engine braking as original, i expected some change when i installed the tires but not this much calculated tire gear ratio change to be 9.2% higher than original. Has anyone come up against this and found a solution, is there a gear reduction manufacturer i can contact.

    Gippslander.

Frank, i think the easiest way to go is ring and pinion changeover. I have a set of the Ashcroft heavy duty ones for the front of my rangie if you want to check them out, much bigger teeth on them. Think it was around $350 landed for the front set.

whenever. If the weather is still rubbish tomorrow, i'm planning on a well overdue tidy up of the shed.
