    Decat standard pipe

Is it easy to decat the standard pipe, or is there a good quality local replacement ?
This is part of my heat and sound ongoing project, however got a bit side tracked and ordered a Allisport intercooler.

I've been meaning to send you a PM,if you are buying a De-cat pipe I'll buy your cat and take the guts out of it as mine still has a few years warranty left. Pat

I too still have warranty thus the question of decat original standard pipe. The quality of local ones have made me not so sure. UK scorced one's can be obtained of sufficent quality it's the postage thats the problem on a part that really not that expensive.

Trouble is if you get a dealer service they must re-fit a cat if you take the original off,I was going to get a second hand one and remove the guts of it and fit up. Pat

Pat how do you go about gutting them, do you fit an internal straight through pipe?

I did a Navara one and all I did was run a pipe down the guts of it and smashed the ceramic out of it,it took about an hour to get it all out. Pat

    Hello,
I have just removed the cat off gavinwidrow's TD5 and it is sitting in the garage with the down tube I am in Beechboro, it yours if you want it..... would be very easy to knock out the center and weld a pipe in the middle. Let me know, could drop it off some where to ship up to you.

Mr. Stone Age here would like to know what the problem with these is. Do they slow down the exhaust? Run too hot under your feet? Start grass fires?

Aren't they supposed to clean up nasty exhaust chemicals? Think of all the butterflies you'll kill.

Davo, they are like EGR's,in theory they work really well,in real life they cause higher fuel consumption and loss of power. Pat
