TRS want 850 for the housing with centre. i.e. pinion, crown and carrier.
Assured good condition and ready to go.
No stubs, hubs, axles, calipers, backplates.
I dont know if this is good or not, but seems ok to me considering my opotions. Definitely from a 130.
I have to buy new stubs anyway. I have seen bearing oil ways that aren't as deep as my seal area wear grooves!
cheers
I have been keeping an eye out for a disc sals for a while, i have found a few but keep missing out or to far away.. hard to find for a reasonable price.
After advice from Sutton Motors in Alice, that there were a batch/ run of Sals which went into production after 98 which were substantially thinner in the housings with many breakages reported, plus, my need for a 130 unitQuote:
If you aren't in a hurry then shop around. Stubs etc will be expensive to buy individually.
DaveS paid ~$1200(?) for a NEW 110 sals disc-disc from LandRover.
I paid ~$1k for a 110 sals disc-disc with an ARB locker, DBA rotors and HTE axles.
the pool of choice is reduced substantially.
I just bit the bullet and bought the TRS unit.
So far have found stubs for $130 the pair landed in Alice
Does the old one have any value?
Cheers
It is still a bloody good axle for a non 'extreme' Defender. No problem for an around Australia or local vehicle. As the OP said, been welded up but no apparent problems, or words to that effect. Even damaged and repaired it's still 10 times stronger than the crappy P38 offering in the pumas. Is it possible to do a Sals conversion to a Puma ?
When you consider that a 130 sals replacement housing WITH diff. cost $850 and the original stubs were stuffed and needed replacement anyway along with the axles, I reckon you've got a bargain. For $850 and a bit of stuffing around you've got a much better outcome and none of the 'what if' worry if you'd kept the original. Sell the old one for what you can get and live 'happily ever after'. :D
