On 31's I was getting about 24/100 so yours could be right with 33's on it. I was getting better than this, but it got worse as it got more KM on it. Still ran sweet, but was just a bit past it. How many KM does your have?

+1: cleaned the maf and connectors and found close to an extra 100kms per tank. Was running really well but the fuel economy had gone to sh*t.

Hey mate, This was my first assumption, its only done just over 200k klms though, so it shouldnt be too far gone. I might get it a re-build eventualy anyway as I would love to eventualy take it to places like the cape, better to cover all bases in these old rigs I guess.

Run it on Premium ULP if you are not already doing so; put some NGK Iridium plugs in it; buy a set of Magnecore high-tension leads; set the ignition advance to 10 deg. BTDC.

What is your camshaft like? The Rover V8 will idle well and drive reasonably well with a worn out camshaft. Does it seem to lack torque and urgency on moderate slopes?

    Cheers Charlie

Hi Charlie, It does lack a little Urgency, But I would not really know, this is my first Rover V8, my last D1 was a TDI... and that had no urgency at all! lol.

YOu thinking I should replace the cam? Good excuse for a more agressive one ^.^

    WRONG!
Unless you want to change down even earlier on every hill.
You need torque at about 2000RPM-2500RPM, and any agressive cam wiill reduce this.
The wildest you should go is an EFI cam, or a 3.9 EFI which is the same but advanced.
