3.5V8... I think I may have an issue somewhere...

    Hi Guys,
I searched the forum for 3.5v8 Fuel economy and such related threads, but none of the reported MPG or KPL figures seem to match the ones im getting.

    65ltrs Petrol = 230kms

    Thats 28ltrs per 100kms...

Now, the thing I dont understand, is with those kind of figures, something is obviously wrong, but, the engine runs perfectly, idles perfectly, plenty of power, no wrong sounds or smells or vibrations.

Half of those kms where done with 33'MTZs and the other half with the stock Landrover size tyres (whatever that size is 29' or something)

    Ideas?

No Leaks that I can see, oil or petrol. Im baffled, the air filter is new, new plugs, new leads, doesnt blow any smoke whatsoever.

Is this just a one off or is this the normal for your vehicle. Try several tanks worth of fuel with just the standard size tyres to get an idea of what the base is for your vehicle. Were you playing offroad with the 33's as that will nearly always use more fuel.

Its the first full tank I have run through the disco, I did one hill climb and one bog hole, (about 10klms worth including driving to the bush and home)

then the other 220klms was all highway.

Go into the bathroom, grab the scales and weigh your right foot, that could have a lot to do with it, especially running 33" muddies

    Ideas?

1: Check that the vacuum advance works
2: Check the resistance of the "EFI motor temp sender unit" is within Hot n Cold (resistance) specs
3: Clean the MAF "hot wire"
4: Shove a Bottle of injector cleaner in the fuel tank
5: Check for the amount of "Slop" (degrees) of the cam chain

That'l keep you busy for a while

    Cheers
