Thread: Toyo open country T/A

Toyo A/T tyres - these along with Bridgestone Desert Dueller A/Ts I have found to be excellent tyres on my Classic Rangie LSE - they seem to wear well, can't fault the grip on the wet or dry bitumen, do a pretty good job off road, are not overly aggressive and importantly for me - are not susceptible to getting punctures in the rough stuff.

Durability – often a consideration with tyres but to me it is irrelevant because I move tyres on when they are down to about 3 mm of depth. It is in this last 20% of a tyres life that handling/bogged/traction problems occur, rock piercing punctures happen and balancing and noise issues raise their heads. I can't be bothered with these issues and lets face it, changing a bush puncture is the pits, so I just get rid of them and move on to the next set of no hassle tyres.

I have these on my D2a and have found them to be an excellent tyre. Grippy, quiet and good value. Also, they came in the factory size of 255/65/16.

As the others have said a great tyre
Mine lasted more than 100.000km on My Defender
Never had a puncture and did some major Off roading including the Gunbarrel highway

I recently fitted them, 235/70 size. They have a 50kg higher load rating than the same size BFG a/t Tyre dealer in Innaminka once told me Toyo was the only tyre she rarely has to repair. Cheers, Terry

Have them on my D1 300tdi and seem to be quite good on the bitumen as not noisy and seem to grip well in the wet.

I got one as a spare when we got a puncture doing a kakadu trip a few years ago, although it has never been fitted to the car so cant comment on its perfomance. at the time we couldnt get a general grabber so we went in to the tyre shop and asked the tyre guy what all the locals used...thats what he came back with it wasnt cheap but he said he had sold a lot and never recieved one complaint about them

I would have them if 255/85/16 was available.

the 7.50-16 BFG Trac Edge are nearing the end of their life and I am searching for tires with similar characteristics.

On another hand I will have to change the rims since the 7.50 are no longer available. I guess that a set of 235/85R16 on aluminum disco rims will be next on the Def.
