Thumbs down Third Compressor for Air Suspension failure in 18mths!

I have a 2006 RR Supercharged. A fun car. But in the last 18mths, the compressor has failed three times. Each time is a $1,100 fix. Does anyone else a prob with the compressor?

First time, the warranty co covered it, second time Land Rover covered it, this time, everyone has ducked for cover. Land Rover customer care were very uncaring, warranty company say they don't cover it (even though they did last year) and the dealer doesn't care.

As a kid, I always wanted a Range Rover. Now I can't stand it because of the people who represent it and the culture of these companies who take the joy out of owning this car.

    Any tips?

my guess is you have another issue which is leading to the compressor breakdowns eg a slow leak somewhere that see the compressor working all the time or...

rover are no different to other brands.... a lot of times they are better, sometimes worse..

guy up the road from me with top of the range toyomota landbarge would kill to have only had 3.3k worth of stuff go wrong in last 12 months... he is at 11K+ and still spiralling debtwards on a 5 year old truck

i offered him my series ii to borrow while the landbarge was back in the shop again, he kindly declined....

i gave him a wave as i drove past while the barge was being dragged up the tilt tray

LR have started supplying a new brand of compressor which may be better. This compressor doesn't have an external dryer but might have an internal one though. The dryer on the original style seems to often be the cause of compressor failure because it becomes clogged. The dryer is replaceable as a spare part or the dessicant can be replaced with dessicant sourced elsewhere but its too late once the compressor is worn-out.

Some people have obtained replacement compressors from UK suppliers at significantly lower prices than from LR Aust.

Bloke I know has a D3, similar vintage. - Recenty had a compressor replaced through his dealer, new one is physically much larger than the original.

Story is the 'replacement' one is larger capacity and will last longer.

Does that make sense or help ?
