Hazard warning lights activating with severe corrugations/bumps

Just got back from the West including the Gibbs river road and Mitchel plateau.

I’ve got LED’s fitted with an electronic flasher can. With the electronic flasher you don’t get any noise (click).
On numerous occasions during the trip the hazard lights activated and you could hear the traditional click. The only way to turn them off was the stop the engine and restart. Very frustrating.

As mentioned I have an electronic flasher can and this means there is no “Click” when the blinkers/hazard lights are activated in the normal manner.

However when they are activated after hitting a (some) bump/corrugations you get the traditional blinking noise.

I’m thinking this may be linked to the inertia switch? Which may be shock sensitive? Either way any idea how I can locate the cause and if the inertia switch is the cause how do I bypass/deactivate the inertia switch?

    Thanks in advance

Depending on the application, there still is either a 2nd flasher unit or relay involved - go look thru the WSM at the wiring diagram for the hazard circuit. And it's a case of disassembling the alarm unit and either replacing or removing the particular part. Not impossible just complicated.

It is most probably the inertia switch.

Not sure if you can unplug it or if you have to fool the ecu into thinking it is still connected.

You should be able to work out the circuit from the Rave cd...

Had a similar issue with my 300tdi disco - If I switched off and left it a minute the problem cleared, but only till the next decent bump.

Turned out the green alarm unit mounted in the passengers footwell, which must have some inertia switch built in, had a broken mounting lug and was bouncing when I went over a bump.

Fix was double sided mounting tape on the back, no problems since on or off-road

    Hope this helps
