    Thread sealant

    Hi guys
    Replacing water pump on 3.9l v8 and rave says to use loctite 572 sealant. Wondering is this really necessary and if it is, is there a a substitute product available as no one seems to stock it where I am and I would like to be able to just pop down to one of the local auto stores and get something asap and finish the job.

    Permatex have a product available at Repco, Bursons, Autobarn etc. I used it extensively on my rebuild and the cooling system is leak free.
