    Limiting straps - inside coil

    Hi all,
New to the forum but hoping some of you LR experts out there can help out.
I have a Track Eagle camper trailer that has the MC2 suspension fitted. I've had a couple of instances of broken top shocker mounts and want to fit limiting straps.
The military version of this trailer came with limiting straps as standard and I'd like to source these if at all possible rather than having to engineer something new.
The guys at Track reckon the coils and seats are off "a Land Rover" but couldn't be more specific.
The straps live inside the coils and the spring seats (top and bottom) have 2 threaded holes where the limting straps mounts bolt to.
Would greatly appreciate if anyone can help tell me the model these fittings come off, and where I might be able to source them or find out more information.
    Many thanks,
    Ian.

It's not very clear but the top and bottom plates look the same, and look like the bottom rear spring mount from a RRC, D1, Defender etc etc.

These usually have 2 bolts that attach them to the axle and have a relatively straight bit of steel running across to hold the spring down.
The bits inside that are bent up inside the spring are not AFAIK LR bits.

    Thanks Philip.

I've attached a (hopefully!) clearer picture of the limit strap mount, where you can see the shape of it and the bolts holding it down.

If, as you think, it is some sort of aftermarket setup, any suggestions as to where I might source?

Google has been little help thus far....

    Cheers,
    Ian.

The most likely IMHO to know something is Les Richmond Automotive. Google them and give them a call.

I have seen those inserts before, and used with straps but not sure what on. IMO I'd just get some 4 to 6mm steel and fit across the spring base to replace the std rover type (keep the spring retention function) and if its the same at the top just duplicate. You might need some longer bolts.

I had a set of those on my first disco when I bought it.
They have since found there way onto a boat trailer I built.
Very neat solution to limiting straps. They fit perfectly inside a disco coil partially guide the coil and enable limiting straps to protect the shock/ keep coil in place.

The disco I bought had a lot of Maxidrive gear on it that was all installed and serviced by the place that made Bushrangies etc near Amaroo Raceway in Sydney - Bruce Davis I think is the mob... Maybe give him a call.

If you get a lead perhaps post it here. They really are a nice bit of kit for limiting straps and with another coiler trailer build coming on Im chasing another pair of them.
