Max reliable would be in the order of 210ish pony 450Newtons with the rest of the vehicle more or less stock.. (so that backs JC)

ignoring engine choice but sticking in the 210/450 range of pony/torque

manual lt95 will deal with it but its a four slot an MSA or a smaller medium truck box if you wanted manuals and the 4hp24 would be your choice for an auto (easy fitup being the prime motivator on that one) or if you wanted something tank proof, go an alison auto, agricultural but tough as nuts.

I've always kinda toyed with the idea of one of the boss/wisconson aircooled 6 pot donks and putting a turbo on it...

We have access to some nice Magirus Deutsch aircooled units over here................

If I didnt know better Id say that was one of the boss engines i was talking about

Not if a 2-2.5 litre engine's built to handle the power and torque reliably for 750,00km, but then it'd weigh damned near what a 4BD1T weighs.

The Isuzu 4JJ1-TC is bucket loads heavier than a Tdi or TD5 (IIRC it's well, well over 300kg) yet it's only 3 litres, but it's designed as a truck engine that has found its way into utes.

Nissan has the SD33T as well: 305kgs

Weren't the Perkins engines also sodding heavy lumps?

I'd prefer to compensate for weight than struggle with engine reliability.

While I could be happy in that I kinda think the OP is aiming at a high power/low weight kinda deal.

Engine yr (any difference/ strengths in Def/ D2/ D2a other than Ecu?): EU3 are the pick of the motors
Engine K's when mods done: 68
Turbo details (A/R, VNT): Custom Hybrid VNT made by turbo Technics
Chips: testing a bunch of maps from TD5 inside, they are the best around. will handle 1.8-2.0 bar of boost
Injector mods: non
Intercoolers (Front/ top/ water-air): Non AC allisport
de-EGR: yes

What broke? Not yet still 68K on the Car.
Rebuild cost of the engine to suit the power upgrade?

Currently waiting on custom built 5 into 1 collector style manifold to be built and a few other bits and peices to make it all work..


Should be looking in the region of 240-250 hp.

In conjunction with this Whilst the sd33t is an OK motor it isn't built for figures that are outstanding...2 reasons bottom end design and cylinder design once pushed hard and egts climb the cylinders start walking...if I was going to the trouble of fitting a Nissan I'd goto the td42t you can get a heap of custom parts for them,heaps of blokes are playing with them for the off road scene and can get figures up around 800Nm however I couldn't be bothered with IDI diesels...
