    200TDI FIP Alignment

I'm failing to put a replacement timing case back on, I cant get the locator dowels to line up.

The injector pump is on as it was when I removed the old timing chest, held in position at the back by a bracket to the engine block. The timing case has three studs on the back to fix the injector pump to the timing case. The problem I have is that when I offer the studs on the case up to the pump it shifts the timing case to one side a fraction - enough that I cant locate the case dowels into the engine block.

Its not clear to me if I can/should adjust the position of the pump by slakening the bolts on the rear bracket?

I hope to get the front of the engine back on this weekend so any tips/warnings on getting the pump to line up with the studs on the timing chest?

Ok so I was caught wondering.. I had a moment this morning to fiddle with the FIP mounting bracket.

FYI: To make it easier to line up the timing case to the block, slacken the two bolts on the bracket at the rear of the FIP and it will all come together nicely.
