You will just need a lot more courage than me to stop it though.
Drum Brakes and 4000 kg I think not.
    Where does it state that?

Mine and the rest are 2 tons as per the rest of the series 111 range.

Did the data plate say this or a tag on the towbar ?? IIRC all Series vehicles are limited to around 2T.

On another note, IF we are talking about a 50mm ball coulpling then these are limited to 3500kg not matter what other bits are around them.

What's surprising is that my 1997 Disco owner's handbook advises to use low range for pulling away when towing over 2,000kg on automatic models. I'd have thought that it'd be more pertinent on manuals.

It says the same on the Deefer one Joel, and they're all manuals.

Haha there's some serious document control issues coming out of that factory.

was it with the HD tow pack specified?

the D1 can be optioned to do more than 3.5T but it needs to have the heavy pack from factory.

I wasn't aware of any major runs that made it to australia with the 4t pack as standard.

from memory the extra fittings for the 4t pack was the rangie tow gear, and connection of the wiring that activated the brake supply wire in the trailer plug was hooked up and the auto got a slightly different cooler.

I cant recall if the vehicle got a different data plate indicating it could tow the 4T or if they all could but the standard tow pack limited you.
