What's the reason for fitting the lockers? The 90 is very capable in standard form and fitting lockers will void your warranty.
Cheers,
Tim.
Probably lots of reasons.......
- safer and more comfort for passengers (in most cases and obstical can taken at a slower speed with more control)
- reduced wheel spin
- less strain on the drive line
- less chance of breaking components
Re: warranty, with lockers you generally upgrade your axles therefore not much to break, what warranty issues would arise from lockers.
My mate went and fitted lockers after he took four attempts to get through a section if track, he needed momentum and lots of wheel spin..........I crawl along with no wheel spin and I believe reduced my chance of breaking the drive line.
We are set up for touring and I believe they are a good accessory to have.
Lots of new cars come standard with lockers, I don't believe it's for the bash and crash guys but more so for the average punter trip mite comfortable.
Oh and lockers can get you into more trouble as well
I understand your points there Weeds, however I would recommend anyone considering lockers with a Traction Control equiped Defender to understand the capabilities of their vehicle first. The Traction Control is very, very good, to the point where I have been accused of having lockers fitted.
Re warranty, LR Australia voided my entire drive train warranty on my '08 Defender because I fitted Koni Shocks. If you fit lockers and have a gear box problem, (for example), it will be up to you to prove fitting lockers did not cause extra stress.
Cheers,
Tim
