    putting a tdi300 into a disco2, advice?

hi all, i have a beat up 96 tdi auto disco,i'm looking at stroking to 2.8, upgrading the turbo, water cooled intercooler & upgrading g/box & locking t/convertor. i'd then like to buy a cheap disco2 & drop motor, g/box & t/case in. anyone done this or similar?

Why don't you buy a well maintained td5 for 10k and not bother ****ing around?

I think you would spend a lot of time and money making something that is
A: not as good as a stock Disco II and
B: unable to be registered due to not complying with emission laws.

Unless there's another aspect to 'Why?', which you think we've missed, I think the other guys have hit the nail on the head...

apart from you wont get it engineered as the tdi was never designed to meet the emission control requirements of the D2.

you could do it mechanically it wouldnt be all that hard but then the electronics in the D2 would have a fit

you might be able to pull it off if you did it with a late model euro spec TDI with the electronically "tweaked" injector pump and the EGR system but you'd have to import all that stuff or the whole engine and then prove that it met the standard required fro the vehicle you were bolting it into.
