    HID loom

Recently I installed a HID Lightforce kit on my Disco 4. Both ballast are located next to my 2nd battery then onto two 50cm leads to the lights on the bar. One of these looms needed to be extended which I did using a similar grade automotive wire. This light now works Intermittently. I was told the grade wire I used wasn't good enough to handle the strike voltage used to get them started.

So now I ask, is here a specific wire required & what is it?

    Cheers Rob

    Smile HID go no go

    Hi Rob
Mate not sure about the wire requirements as I have not wired any HID's before but as you said that the light works intermittently & that you extended that particular harness I think I would be double checking any solder joins or crimp connections you made. It's not hard to have a dry solder or poor connection if crimping. Just a thought. Hope it works out as an easy fix for you.
    Regards Chris.

You need a (high voltage) HID extension lead.

I have put HIDs on my RRS and have the ballasts mounted inside the light housing so no need to extend the loom. Have you considered mounting them inside the lights - mine are velcroed to the bottom of the housing - there is more than enough room for most ballasts.
