Is a 12 Ton Shop Press man enough?

12 Ton Shop Presses are on special at Autobarn. Is a 12 Ton press man enough to push out the bushes on a D2 TD5?

I pushed my 1995 defender bushes out with a 6T press
    Maybe I got lucky though.

Thanks guys, I'll take a chance on the 12t. It's got to be better than drilling the rubber out & then splitting the outer sleeve with a hack saw.

You can come to Logan and grab mine If you want, Don't think I'll be needing it for a few weeks.

Tip of the week- Use impact sockets to push the bushes, 12pt sockets are beveled on the leading edge and just make things impossible.

Which bushes are you replacing ? I drove out the radius arm bushes on the Defender with a suitably sized 3/4" drive socket and a 4 lb. hammer. Wasn't particularly difficult, the hardest bit was holding the arms and socket and hammer all at the same time. With another pair of hands it would have been a breeze.

I've done it that way 3 times in the past - I finally learnt and now have a press.

Can't argue with that logic, it's ALWAYS easier when you have the right tools.

I have found that for (300Tdi) general steering, suspension, sway bar bushes etc. a big hammer and selection of sockets does the job OK but as you say it's easier with a press.

Jobs I found where a press is essential is rear suspension ball joint and timing cover viscous fan bearing for example.

I hit 'em with a pneumatic hammer with a chisel bit and that shifts them quick smart.
