I agree- its an anal exercise to get it right, but if your not you are punished.

I saw the turps thing first off and was surprised, but if its on the can its on the can and thats what you do.

When redoing - the cleaner is the the first thing I'd do different. Use thinners that what everyone always uses. Take it up with their tech support - really they should give you the paint for nix if it is the cause of the film failure as I suspect it is.

The turps is the issue. Try cleaning the surface prior to painting with wax and grease remover (prepsol) I had the same result with engine enamel. Your Hogans product appears to be solvent based paint from the msds.
    Good luck

spoke to them yesterday. Paint is actually an Acrylic Lacquer. They recommed turps due to the fact that metho and such have additives to prohibit drinking...now the problem is turps is being made/imported all over and no QC really.

Advisment is to whipe/clean with acetone and start again.... bugger 2.5 cans down the drain.

When I first read "turps" I was a bit ...hmmmm... but then figured the paint was some sort of enamel and that it may "help" the finish...

I am suprised they recommend turps for an acrylic.
