    Aftermarket Bumpers and ADRs

I had a chat with the WA Vehicle Licensing department today regarding fitting imported bumpers from the UK to my D2a and thought this may be of interest to people.

Basically they said that if it has no sharp edges and has a sticker saying airbag compliant then it doesn't need to have an ADR test so something like Discovery 2 Winch Bumper with Driving Lights would be OK.

The one point he did make was that if you ever sold the car and airbags failed to deploy then you are responsible. However these are more rigid than the standard bumpers so airbags are more likely (rather than less) to deploy as the D2a has the airbag sensor in the chasis rather than on the bumpers.

I see the important bit is " a sticker saying airbag compliant"...... Many overseas companies/ manufacturers don't have to comply with this area so those stickers would not be present, nor would they be able to be affixed as no testing has been done....pity because those bars/bumpers are very nice though.

    Cheers all.
